Kim Kardashian’s Virgin Mary dress drew the ire of the Catholic League.

The wife of "Yeezus" is receiving backlash after flaunting paraphernalia inspired by the Virgin Mary.
Kim Kardashian drew the ire of both social media users and the Catholic League after she stepped out wearing a sheer dress featuring the Virgin Mary — on the same day she began promoting devotional candles with her face on them. The religiously inspired items became the subject of an impassioned post on the Catholic League website, in which the religious anti-defamination organization's president accused the reality star of "ripping off Catholic iconography to make a quick buck and grab headline news." "We've never seen any indication that Kim Kardashian venerates the Blessed Virgin Mary — she is a former porn star — so her latest headline-grabbing stunt can only be seen as exploitative,"
The candles, which Kardashian plugged Thursday evening on Twitter, earned a similar reaction from some followers who believed the 36-year-old star had gone too far.

"That is the most disrespectful thing i've ever seen," one user tweeted.
Another added, "If you have no boundaries, at least show respect for
other people's religion."
Kardashian's husband Kanye West has pushed the envelope when it comes to religion in the past as well, titling an album "Yeezus" in addition to releasing a song called "I Am A God."
