Talk about building an empire! Actress Grace Gealey may play Trai Byers' step-mother-to-be on the hit FOX drama Empire, but off-camera the stars are now engaged, PEOPLE has learned. Rumors of the two dating have been circulating for the past few months, and now Byers has put a ring on it. Gealey, 30, who plays Anika Calhoun in the show, has kept quiet about to her relationship to Byers, 33, so far.
In a recent interview with Essence Live Byers, who plays Andre Lyon, was asked who he would
choose between Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson, or Gealey's character, Anika. "There's something about the realness of Anika," Byers said
"She's been in a relationship with this man for five years. She's the
head of A&R because she's smart and educated and really worked her
way up. Some of the circumstances she's going through seem to really hit
hard in my core in regard to what relationships should be and how they
fall apart."Season two of Empire is set to air this fall on FOX.
