Skrillex cancels Stereosonic trip

This weekend, the 2013 Stereosonic tour kicks off with a rollcall of dance music’s biggest names on the bill. The Skrillex and Boys Noize pairing of Dog Blood were due to headline the HARD stage in every city, for what would’ve been their first sets on Australian soil. Sadly, it wasn’t to be – today, Skrillex has announced he’s unable to make the Stereosonic tour.

“Due to unfortunate circumstances that are beyond my control, I won’t be able to make the Dog Blood Stereosonic dates this year,” he posted to Facebook. “For the record, I love the Stereosonic team and the One Love crew who puts on these events and this has nothing to do with them on their side. I will be spending the rest of this year finishing my new music but will be coming back to do some SKRILLEX shows over New Year’s Eve in a couple weeks and will be spending more time in OZ in ’14. Thanks and really looking forward to seeing you guys soon.”
But all’s not lost. Boys Noize will still be doing his solo set, and we’d wager that Stereosonic will announce a Dog Blood replacement act soon – stay tuned for updates. Stereosonic hits Sydney and Perth this weekend, rolling onto Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide the following Saturday and Sunday.
